Adobe Systems created the PS language in the 1980s to provide computers with a way to convert text with graphics on page layouts efficiently. Adobe decided to release the first version of PS in 1984, after which new versions began to appear infrequently in 1991 and 1997. After a while, other page layout formats replaced this format.
