A TTF file is a TrueType format font file used by many Microsoft and Apple operating systems. The TTF (True Type Font) extension was created by Apple. Besides Apple devices it is also used by Microsoft in Windows. The main purpose of the TTF files was to provide developers with reliable fonts (before the format appeared, they had no control over the appearance of the text in various scenarios). For this reason, developers needed a font that would look the same both after printing and on the screen. The TTF format made this wish come true. The format uses a rasterization program which converts fonts into bitmap images when printing or displaying characters.
