A PRC file is a format for saving and embedding 3D models in a PDF file. It stores information about the image of a mechanical product or assembly. The PRC format allows engineers, architects, and other users of CAD software to more easily exchange PDF-based 3D models. This file type contains the project model's structure, color, line styles, coordinate systems, element descriptions, and precise geometric and topological data. Data in this format is compatible with automated production and automated design programs.

PRC can be saved using standard or high compression to reduce file size. You can use Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Reader, and Foxit Reader to open a PRC file. With recent versions of Adobe Acrobat, you won't be able to create and convert PRC files, but it's still an excellent way to insert previously created PRC files into PDF documents
