TEXT files are widely used to contain unformatted ASCII text. It can be read by several word processing applications or apps for editing texts. These types of files can be saved as .TXT files as well.

In TEXT files you will not find such formattings as bolding, italicization, font styles, and text alignment. It is because this type of file is needed to contain only basic information.
TEXT files can be created by such applications as yBook, Microsoft Word, Notepad, Open Office Writer, and Star Office Writer are most commonly saved in the ASCII text-based format.
