SKP files are generally used for storing 3D models and exchanging 3D models between different programs. Objects stored in SKP files can be opened and edited by SketchUp, as well as by other programs that support the format. 3D models stored in SKP files can also be exported to other formats, such as OBJ, DWG, DXF, PDF, etc. This makes it possible to use SketchUp models in other programs or to share them with people who don't have SketchUp installed. SKP files can be saved in a compressed format with an SKP extension. If compressed, SKP files may not be compatible with all SketchUp programs.
